Video Title : The Women Trailer
Description : The Women Trailer The Women tells the story of Mary Haines (Meg Ryan), a clothing designer who seems to have it all -- a beautiful country home, a rich financier husband, an adorable 11-year-old daughter and a part-time career creating designs for her father's venerable clothing company. Her best friend, Sylvie Fowler (Annette Bening), leads another enviable life -- a happily single editor of a prominent fashion magazine, a possessor of a huge closet of designer clothes and a revered arbiter of taste and style poised on New York's cutting edge. But when Mary's husband enters into an affair with Crystal Allen (Eva Mendes), a sultry 'spritzer girl' lurking behind the Saks Fifth Avenue perfume counter, all hell breaks loose. Mary and Sylvie's relationship is tested to the breaking point while their tight-knit circle of friends, including mega-mommy Edie Cohen (Debra Messing) and author Alex Fisher (Jada Pinkett-Smith), all start to question their own friendships and romantic relationships as well. Lighten up, guys! Good to see that Meg Ryan is back in her old form. Been dying to see her again on the big screen. Looking forward to this one, I'll bet it's going to be hilarious.

does the women suck or is it a heart felt "chick flick" perhaps that is what they shoulda called this remake. but it's not really a remake! it borrows situations and certian aspects of the orignal film but this is an entirely diffent story! the original was so catty and crazy and funny. it was almost unreal. today if the movie was the made the same way it would have to be with much younger "women". annette benning acting like sylvia fowler in the orignal would have been ridiculous.

You make a very valid point. This version is more "inspired" by the 1939 original rather than being an actual remake. But, still, even accepting this film on its own terms without making comparisons, it SUCKS. The direction is poor. The scoring is terrible and absurd. It never matches or helps enhance the mood being "acted" on screen. The script lacks focus and strength. It never really establishes the "power" of these women. It is bland and dismissable - as are the characters. Bad film.

the original also had memorable sets. like someone really thought about it. in the remake there is nothing special to look at sept eva mendes :) but the bath tub scene was a wash out. anybody can light some bloody candles and stick em around the tub. they coulda wowed us and didnt :(

I thought it sucked. So, did the guy who walked out sitting next to me. So do these critics; Mary Elizabeth Williams of SALON: "Let the record show, then, that a movie written by, directed by and starring women can suck just as mightily as anything any bunch of men could produce. You go, girls. Preferably as far away as possible." Mack Rawden of CINEMA BLEND: "This movie is without direction. Its without purpose. And its beyond terrible in almost every conceivable way." Not funny.

Well, times change. The original produced in 1939, although badly dated by Women's Lib standards, is generally regarded as a classic due largely to its witty dialogue, great George Cukor direction, and the amazing performances of legends like Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Godard, et al. WOMEN in their 40s and 50s should be acting a lot more mature and a lot less like shrill and vapid "girls" while sticking together than the empty and truly boring society Hags do in this re-make.

that's the point, genius. the movie IS called "the women" it shows their view. duh. common sense.

god no it doesn't suck it was amazing!!

I agree. It is amazing that it took nearly 14 years for TV sitcom creator of "MURPHY BROWN" Diane English to produce a re-make of a funny classic that she managed to make UN-Funny, boring, witless, lacking in heart or drama, and so poorly put together on almost every level that it defies description. So much fine talent wasted in this truly AWFUL piece of shit. English clearly is better suited to TV commercials or anything that does not involve film-making.

never said it was funny. i said it was amazing. but i did think it was funny. i don't know much about old movies, i don't know if this is a classic or whatever, but i know that i like it. it shows how girls stick together when one of them is in trouble. it sounds cheesy, but it's true. hate it if you must, but i liked it.
