Dear From The Sidelines, The titles are from the ABC TV Cartoon Series "Matty's Funday Funnies!". "Harvey Films"Inc. bought the tv rights to the films and released them with these titles.

So nice to see this morning:) I am so glad you have the song in there! Love it *****

By the way, animator Martin Taras and director Dave Tendlar worked for Terrytoons {in New Rochelle} as directors by 1959, after Famous/Paramount cut back on their staff...

Thanks for the info--- I did not think Arnold Stang did "Herman" but it's nice to know that he did!

Yep, the very same. ;)

The "Herman and Katnip" title used here is the later one, from 1955 through '59; the original title card, for those who've never seen it, read, "Paramount presents Herman and Katnip- Color by Technicolor", followed by "A Famous Studios Production" credit...

Thanks for the info! This intro and the Paramount titles are completely plastered. Back in those days prior to Harvey Films, NTA and UM&M had plastered over the Paramount titles. The NTA print had a black bar that cover the copyright notice and the full title was also block off. The UM&M prints had a red background with the credits shown and the copyright notice that mentioned UM&M-TV Corp.

And of course the orginal opening again is masked by Harvey Films. But the title itself 'Herman And Katnip' is orginal, but has been edited. I love the theme music though. :D

Thank you for posting it brings bAck so many wonderful memories of my childhood...one thing I always thought of was why do they always make the cat look stupid and the mice soooo smart and kind??? The same thing went for Mighty Mouse!LOL!!! Anyway...THANKS!

I think I can answer your question. It's the small and weak outsmarting the big and powerful. (In real life, of course, we want the cats to win and to rid our houses of mice.) BTW, I have a video collection of Herman and Katnip cartoons. Notice Katnip's minor key theme song as he's eating the sandwich. As a child, I didn't notice that theme.
