It was the first Elvis record played on the radio. Dewey Phillips played it 14 times on his Red, Hot and Blue show and he received 47 telephone calls from listeners when it was played. Elvis interviewed on the program later that evening. The single did not chart nationally, but it reached #4 in Memphis. Fewer than 20,000 copies were sold. The flip side was Blue Moon of Kentucky. Elvis sang it on his Grand Ole Opry appearance on October 2, 1954 and during his many appearances on the Louisiana Hayride and while touring the south in 54-56. Elvis also sang it in That's The Way It Is in 1970. Elvis also sang it June 21, 1977 in Rapid City, South Dakota, which was used in the TV Special Elvis in Concert. I made fun of Elvis in the 70's when I was growing up. I didn't truly appreciate him until I was older. His recordings from 1954-56will be loved long after Britney Spears, 50cent, and Kid Rock's music turns to dust.

Why should people make fun of you because you like elvis? HE is the king.. and there is no one else that will take his place..
