Caracas started strongly and piled heavy pressure on the San Lorenzo goal early on in the match. Ramon Diaz's side tried their best to move forward but lacked imagination in the midfield as Diego Rivero and Juan Manuel Torres showed a distinct lack of sharpness. San Lorenzo were constantly under pressure from the Caracas front-line but were kept in the game by Agustin Orion, who was kept very busy in goal for the Argentine side. The Venezuelans dominated and finally went ahead in the 40th minute with a well-placed long distance strike from Ronald Vargas. Two minutes after going behind things got worse for San Lorenzo, as Cristian Tula was given his marching orders after a violent tackle on a Caracas player. After the break neither of the two sides created many goal scoring opportunities, but Caracas still looked the more dangerous of the two, and moved forward looking to extend their lead. In the 70th minute Rafael Castellin doubled Caracas' lead after eventually bundling the ball home from close range following a scramble in the area. Caracas held onto their two-goal lead and picked up their first three points of the competition against a very disappointing San Lorenzo side. Caracas Fútbol Club, usually known as Caracas F.C. or just Caracas, is a Venezuelan football team from Caracas. The club has won nine First Division titles being the most successful in Venezuelan football history. They are nicknamed Los Rojos del Ávila, or the "Reds from Ávila". This refers to their red jerseys as well as Cerro El Ávila, a mountain near Caracas. Originally founded in 1967, the team played as amateurs for many years. In the early 1980s, the team, named Yamaha at that time, were successful in several amateur championships. In 1984, the team was renamed as Caracas-Yamaha, and was introduced to the Venezuelan Professional Football League to participate in the Second Division Championship. The team obtained their ticket to the First Division after winning the Second Division Championship in their first season. Caracas Fútbol Club has played their home matches at Cocodrilos Sports Park since the season 2006/2007. Cocodrilos Sports Park has a maximum capacity of 3,500 people, but it will be expanded to 6,000 people, and then to 15,000. The field is composed of artificial grass. For bigger national league or international tournaments games, the club had used Brígido Iriarte Stadium in the past. It has an oficial capacity of 12,000 people, however there had been crowds of aprox. 20,000 people in games against Deportivo Táchira (the historical rivals), São Paulo and other teams. Recently Caracas Fútbol Club has played at Estadio Olímpico de la UCV with a capacity of 30,000 people for last Copa Libertadores. In the season 2007/2008 Estadio Olímpico de la UCV is going to be the provisional ground for matches of Venezuelan football league, Copa de Venezuela and Copa Libertadores; because of the expansion and redesign of Cocodrilos Sports Park.
