Great song: well written and well sung. I can see why Bill and Hilary would name their firstborn daughter after it.

If the glass in that mobile was from the beads that bought Manhattan, then maybe it wasn't such a bad deal for the sellers after all if it could inspire such a beautiful song.

Actually Joni found the colored glass and made the mobile while she was playing a gig in Philadelphia. She said in a 1996 interview that she didn't consider "Chelsea Morning" one of her better songs. "I think it's a very sweet song, but I don't think of it as part of my best work. To me, most of those early songs seem like the work of an ingenue."

If my baby needs a little motivation getting ready, I play this and we act all silly getting dressed :) Won't you stay, we'll put on the day and we'll talk in present tenses. How novel....let's try it - no talk of yesterday or tomorrow - only today...right NOW :)
