I used to ride a mountain bike to work & back, for about 3 years. About 18km everyday. It took 55min getting to work, and about 40min to get home. Winter was a bitch! All the gear, but still! But the GT LTS 2000DS was pedal powered only. I stopped doing this because it was wearing out my knees, and I was always tired. Started taking the bus. Now I'm thinking of converting it to have electric assist. This might changes things!

hey, mimib. consider how much energy it takes just to transport the finished product to the pump. there's lost energy. that's not including the energy required to drill, transport, process, transport, refine, transport. get it? i'm no oil and gas expert. but preaching about coal power plants and how they are dirty is never going to land on my list of complaints. by bumping the voltage way up, electricity can be transported long distances with very little loss. electric is always cleaner. period.
