For $2,000.00 you can fly in the Lancaster found in Canada. Best part, you can write the expense off as a donation! So not only do you get to have an hour flight in the Lanc, but you are contributing to the museum (That has an awesome NA B25-J Mitchell that is operational too!) and getting a tax write off!
I also have some amazing shots of the Lanc being worked on right now, all stripped down and on jacks. Shoot a message my way and I will send them.
Take care everyone!

Wonderful. I'm taking my Dad for a taxi run in Just Jane for his 70th birthday. Don't know who is looking forward to it more!
|
Oh, I was told that only two existed today that flew, and that they were the only one's in the world. Where is this one kept and how close are able to get to it?
|
This is "Just Jane" at Lincolnshire Aviation, East Kirkby, Lincolnshire. You can take a taxie run in her.

nice pice of music hearing those merlins harmanising

The music is spot & the site of that most awesome Avro Lancaster is just unbelieveable. The sound of thos 4 RR Merlins WOW.

During a drama called 'Night Flight' I have it on good authority that during a dummy take-off, her wheels did leave the ground!! Can't really call it flying, but still!! I don't believe she should fly. It allows younger generations (like me) to get inside and feel the vibrations of four Merlins purr!! Thanks to all at East Kirkby for that!
|
*laughs* It doesn't surprise me at all! I had just remarked on another video that it seemed that she was saying 'Let's go Pilot!' when I took my taxi ride.

NX611 (Just Jane) needs new wing spars plus other work, so she in all probability never fly again. The BBMF is the only user to have re-sparred a Lancaster. It's never been done before or since!
