a lost war with many cassualtys and that all for what? to stop communism?

I was brought up to believe the Communists and socialists were a threat, but Trudeau had his way now young people in Canada think socialism is the best thing since sliced bread. :(

Not looking for an argument, just wondering what your feelings are now regarding communism? In Australia we have a history of political parties with a definite socialistic bent though its not thought of as such by most of the population. Now there is little difference in the basic philosophy of either party.

Communism i think is very good in principle but when put to the test has been a failure due to the fact everyone is only able of earning the same amount of money which can lead to bad work ethics eg a astronaut getting paid the same as a person who works at a supermarket. Also the reliabilty of those in power has frequently let comminism down as there is alot of corruption within the communist leadership but yet in saying that democracy has its flaws too.
