Pilots who flew fires with postwar B-17s said the planes seemed happier to be flying peaceful missions. Of course, the slicker performance was due to the reduced drag and weight from the guns being removed. Still, many B-17s flew with impossible damage as if they had their own will to protect their crews. I dunno, I guess I can believe God may have put a soul into some of them.
