It is true, the 707 is a lot faster too, but terms of elegance, the Comet had it (except the unswept tailplane). It seemed more roomy too, the 707 was an 'en mass' carrier. The DC-8 was the best, much larger windows, almost fast as a 707, (a DC-8 became the only subsonic jet go supersonic in test in 1961) and very roomy. Many DC-8 buying airlines took the option of stand up bar/lounge, the only commercial pax jetliner to do so. DC-8 = true class. More DC-8s than 707s are still flying today.
