I don't think Tony got whacked. When you're in Tony's position though, when you have to watch your back constantly, anyone can seem like a threat. I don't think there was a man in that diner who wanted Tony dead, but the camerawork still kept the tension high. No matter if it was in a diner with his family or in the streets of New York, Tony was ALWAYS in danger, and always will be. That's why it ended so abruptly. Any sort of closure would ruin the fact that he can never be safe.
With regards to the ending, Anthony Soprano is a scouser! Fact!
the whole point of the scene was that females should only drive sub-compacts, no but seriously, i think the point was that he did get whacked. but they dont show it incase they ever wanted to make another season or make a movie, then they could start it off with finishing that scene and him somehow suriviving.
yanks dont spoil the dream Tony (me) never got wacked the show must go on, my woman said she knows when iv been watchin the sopranoes, dont know what she can mean, steve from liverpool uk
yes, tony is dead. everything went to black...just as they said it would be like to get whacked in a earlier episode. Tony just got whacked!
Chase DID make comments all but saying Tony was WHACKED...Face It!!
I totally agree with you. It is obvious that Tont got WHACKED...just as you called it. It is all there. That is also why there was the emphasis on Meadow's arrival, as Tony looks up to see her "pop", in the back of the head, by the Members Only guy as he exits the bathroom.
Why in the world would anyone think Tony got whacked???? Phils OWN guys gave the ok to tony to take phil out, which they did, so who would kill Tony? The war between the Dimeo/Soprano and Luppertazzi family is OVER during this scene.
what a well crafted scene. the whole time you're feeling frustrated and anxious for meadow to come meet them and it just abruptly ends. beeaaautiful
who knows, but the guy with the members only jacket is in the credits. But who knows for sure
Thank you.........agreed
I doubt it.
Isnt there coming a sopranos movie?
Tony got "WHACKED"!!! Face it! It is ALL there. The members only guy came out of the bathroom and "pop", Like in Tony's favorite part of the Godfather. The fade to black, like he said before. And you never see it coming, he looks up at Meadow and pop! That's whay there was the emphasis on her arrival. And the family together was kind of a fond farewell, focus on the Good Times. WHACKED!!! OVER! FACE IT! delpiero, you are REALLY reaching...
Godfather and the sopranos are the best film and serie ever!
the script for the entire season was finished before they even started filming the first episode.. there is no way anything could have been rushed, that just isnt chase's style. everything is planned to the upmost perfection :)
"its all a big nothing" as tony has said on many occasions :)
Is this real life?
I am a SATC fan, however this comment made me laugh so hard that I sprayed rootbeer on my keyboard! LOL Thanks for the laugh! :)
you
chase said that there's no de vinci code here. there's no way he planted number 3's all along. it's not english class. it's the sopranos.
why didn't that guy come with a gun in the first place? did anyboy search him at the door? the gun in the bathroom theory makes no sense. it made sense in the godfather, but not here. Chase wouldn't be that stupid. homage maybe, actual same situation - no way
maybe a black screen is a BLACKOUT, ever thought of that ? chase said to look for the 1st episode of the series, which begins with a story about a blackout... the whole series he had those blackouts, panic attacks. If Chase wanted this to mean death, wouldn't he have had Bobby said "everything goes black" or something? Who's the moron?
and the word "dream" appears in about 10 different songs all through the episode.
exactly. Tony by the way looks at himself 3 or 4 times during the episode... with his sister Janice, with the FBI agent and with his uncle, before he looks at himself here again. Some people believed that this is "establishing the perception/point of view" but that was never used during the series ever and makes little sense.
