Read the reply I gave to wiley207 not long before this message. I want to share it with you without having to retype it.

I thought that looked a bit too grotesque because the "O"s usually stop bouncing when the "N" in cartoon appears, but they somehow wound up bouncing three more times after the "N" showed up with the closing from "Bartholomew Vs. the Wheel." I swear, I wanted to gasp!

I honestly don't know why they did that. I wonder what a version of the W-7 closing with Big Ben and the bike horn sound would be like?
|
Maybe it was an accident. You know, I think Big Ben with the W7 closing would be like an apple with an orange, but the tricycle horn is another story.
|
I think it would be same as what's now, except the W-7 logo would I guess be red with white background, it'd be weird, but then again, the music on the opening of W-7 was always weird as well. Off melody I think. You know what would be weird is if the W-7 logo would be made into a T-shirt. Can you envision that? I can, but on either a red or black shirt. BTW, is your name based on the Coyote?

Yes it is.
If you thought the regular W-7 opening was strange, listen to the one-time variant of the opening theme on "Fistic Mystic." It's on here called "Looney Tunes W7 logo (1969 variation)" uploaded by RoygerDodger

Wow. You wrote that quick, as if you were expecting someone to comment you ; ) But anyway, yes I have seen and heard that one. In fact, it's been on my favorites for a while now. What's weird on it is that the opening and closing songs have two different melodies. Why that is, I don't know. Oh well. "Fystic Mystic" btw is one of my favorite Merlin cartoons.

The closing theme is basically the same as the 1964 closing theme. For some reason they never bothered to re-do the closing music, just the opening.

So the bit with the piano replacing the steel guitar at the beginning and end of the intro themesong was a one-time variant? I wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing, lol...
After hearing Milt Franklin's jazzy renditions of "Merrily We Roll Along" for the "modern" series ("Now Hear This," etc.) as one of the extras on Golden Age Vol. 5 video collection, I have to say that I think his untimely death was quite a shame. Wonder what it would have been like with the W7 artwork?
|
There was a theme like that for "See Ya Later Gladiator" and "3 Ring Wing Ding," but the version on "Fistic Mystic" was a one-time variant. And if you listen closely on that one you can hear a strange steel-guitar zoom-out mixed with the piano when the lines zoom out.
