I think the guy driving the tank showed courage in stopping. He's probably dead now because he did, but "I was just doing my job" is the reasoning behind so many of life's atrocities. Hitler probably never personally killed one person in his lifetime. The driver of the tank had enough humanity to defy who he was and what he was meant to do. And plus, the videos of Tank Man would suck if he had "merely" been a guy who was crushed by a tank. God Bless the courage that is within us all!
Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who became internationally famous when he was videotaped and photographed during the Tiananmen Square protests on 5 June 1989. Several photographs were taken of the man, who stood in front of a column of Chinese Type 59 tanks, preventing their advance.
Change always starts with one person. He personifies this.
