I think IFC and Film Independent are great and it's awesome the work they've put in to get some real talent seen but... Independent film seems to have become a genre for the studios and going into production with studio backing really isn't independent. What happened to the days of having to beg a studio to pick up the P A or letting a distributor take a chance on something they believe in. It is still next to impossible to get a serious deal unless you have "names" attached to your film.
