Father Goose

Video Title : Father Goose
Description : In October of 1993 William Lishman took off from his Toronto farm in a microlight of his own design and construction. Eighteen birds followed 'Goose Leader' in a V-formation all the way south to Virginia. The following April the banded flock returned unaided to Lishman's farm to greet their surrogate father. Eventually the principles learned by working with common birds could be applied to endangered species such as whooping cranes and trumpeter swans. http://www.williamlishman.com/

wut do u do with a 1 foot wild goose that wont let u help it wen ppl are constantly chasing it and scaring it but i wont leave? iv tryed helping him by telling ppl 2 stop but they done he lookes worse every day poor stub<--his name he has no foot i found the foot & called the bird band ppl(the band was still on the foot)they cant help so how do i get a wild goose(dont tell me a wild goose chase i tryed)

Call up a local wild bird rescue organization or sanctuary, they should be able to guide you. If you can't find such organizations, call your local S.P.C.A., they should know how to contact them. Kudos to you for being such a good Samaritan.

i tried thay said they cant do anything canida geese are overpopulated were i live i dont think they coud care less im gonna call em again tho if they wont do anything i will wach him & see if he gets worse if he does i will trap him & bring him 2 my wild vet poor stub<--my name 4 him cuz he only has a stub were his foot was=[

The answer you received is somewhat surprising! Although I've experienced similar reactions when I once tried rescuing a seagull. I was told by a passing trouper that it was illegal to remove it regardless of its injury. I was ordered to put it back where I found it. Canada Geese are pretty resourceful birds, hopefully "STUB" will manage on one foot only! I've run out of ideas... so I wish you both the very best. Let me know how things work out.

i didnt have 2 trap him iv gained unuf trust that i can see the wound its healed pretty good i called my vet she said 2 leave it & see if it gets worse i fed him a little goose feed cuz he was in bad shape hes gettin better and i have been talking 2 the park owners about ppl chasing him they seem 2 understand and i see him almost evryday so hes gonne be ok i hope he still has his mate it amazes me she stayed with him and his feathers are looking sheen so he'll be ok

I saw "Fly Away Home," and am a HUGE supporter of "Operation Migration," and it's parent program, "C'mon Geese." Thanks for sharing this!

FANTASTIC !!! Thank you ;-))) You can see my version filmed at the AIRCRAFT FESTIVAL of BEX07 (Switzerland) 1.9.07, on my Youtube page too. WELCOME !

A great story. This guy is not only a genius, but a Godsend to endangered birds!
