On AA flight 587 the fin detached because the 6 attachment lugs that connect the fin to the fuselage failed. The lugs are metal (aluminium/titanium) NOT composite. The fin was composite but the parts that failed were not.

looks like more concern over airbus rather than 787 at the end??

They'll be crashing left and right, killing everyone in sight ... if the robots don't get to us first.

Micro-cracking. How soon until the 787's start crashing? I guess Las Vegas will soon be taking bets on future crash dates. Too bad Boeing will cease to exist over this composite fiasco.
