My God, a proper dad rock solo out of the Edge!

What a touching song. Great attribute to Victor Jara and Greg Carroll.

je souris et je ris aussi!

Personally, I think it's a great tribute to our country and to Greg Carroll as an individual, and of the significance of what these both meant to Bono and the 'U2 family' - this track never ceases to make me very proud not only of NZ but of U2 to have invested that emotional energy in writing this. Kia Kaha!

I grew up in Auckland and occasionally went on walks through the park at One Tree Hill with my family (my dad worked in the area); it was favourite place to go. I always thought U2's song was just a coincidence with the One Tree Hill I remembered, but I didn't realize it was about THE One Tree Hill in Auckland until I read "U2 By U2". Brings back a lot of memories. Very sad to here that vandals destroyed it. My Dad's very proud of being a Kiwi.

Well he should be, it's a great country. And though respect may be dying among the vandals, the vast majority of Kiwi's are great people. In fact you'd better watch out if the U.S. elections don't result in something better next year you may get some more refugees to joint the "Bush refugees".....and the ones who come will be the ones who show the most respect.
