I have a Sony DCR-TRV 103. I just went to Staples, got a PCI Fire Wire Card and 1394 Fire Wire, hooked it up to my Windows XP and it worked fine. I am preparing for my first video.

what type of firewire are you using? firewire 400 och firewire 800? and what is the best for videoediting? firewire 400 or 800?

I have a aiptek my problem is when i plug it in the usb port to upload or as a webcam, it shuts off??? what am I doing wrong? never did this before. ONLY when I place the usb cable to the camera! so I can't upload! :(

Thanks for the video. I have been trying to get my mini-DV camcorder to work with YouTube's quick capture feature. The video portion works, but not the audio portion. I hope this will do it. Could you do a tutorial on how you set this up showing the connections and software setting and options? I think it would be a good video for the community. Thanks again.

Does this mean that it's not possible to connect a camcorder to a PC/MAC and use it as a webcam without using Firewire, I'm not a computer wiz, this is the first time I've came across this Firewire, thanks in advance!
