For the aircraft junkies ive got a special page with all my videos on my website - http://www.sbp.bravehost.com/aircraft.html NOTE: Yes there is a spelling mistake in the video, just shut up :) _______________________________ A History Lesson For Those who live under a rock: The A-4 Skyhawk (in all its variants) is a simple 60's Attack Aircraft/ Fighter-Bomber. The Royal New Zealand Airforce operated up to 24 Skyhawks in 2 squadrons, No2 & No75. In The 1990's the Skyhawks where upgraded through Project Kahu (maori for falcon)' This enabled the use of Sidewinders and GBU Lazer guided bombs. Along with new radar and avionics, the RNZAF's Skyhawks where comparable to modern F16s. In 2001, The Labour Government Cancelled an Order Of 28 Block15 F16s, And Then disbanded Our A-4 Skyhawks and Aermacchi MB-339s. So in conclusion, Our tax went into project kahu, purchased near new Aermacchi's and in 2001 it went down the poo tube. Thanks Uncle Helen!!

When i first moved 10 years ago to nowra in aus...there was n still is.. HMAS albatross aistrip few k's away....EN ZED had a squadron or something of these babies based here...used to hear crazy kiwi's tearin it up doin patterns n shit...low passes at like 3 in morning were not good...few years ago they went back to NZ....ill miss the ol' skyhawks

nz had a damn good air force. even tho we wernt useing it its still good to have even if it is only 10 f-16's or somthing like that.

yeah i love aviation and all but do we really need an air force??? ask yourself we're an island in the middle of now where no one would need to harm us. good clip thanks.

thats precisley why we need an airforce. it doesnt need 2 b big, jst 10 or so combat ready jets not only 4 home security but international efforts 2. People dnt want a airforce because 'it costs to much' -horse shit if we could afford it in the 80s why not now in a hostile ever changing political world society. we pay enough tax- it isnt managed & nothing is funded - we dont even have good roads! the airforce was just another victim of financial coprrupt bullshit from the govt.

As a American my opinion is yes you do need a Air Force. People used to think that same thing before the second world war and look at all the islands that Japan attacked. As our ally we would come to your aid if you were ever attacked but you do need some form of self defense to put up a fight until all of your friends can get their to help. I think it is a shame that your gov't would disarm you like this. I am sure the US govt sell you some older F-16's from the bone yard for cheap.

dude, do you really need insurance? I mean your house has not burned down has it? so why do you have insurance? Bring back the fighter jets! if there was a need to get eyeballs on a stricken ship, or investigate a damaged airliner in NZ airspace, we would have to call up the Aussies to take a look for us. Also whats the point in having a Navy if we cannot provide Air Support for them? might as well get rid of the Navy too, and the Army come to think of it.... shame.
