correction: according to May 2008 Flying Magazine which features the G650, the Citation X is no longer the fastest. Flying Mag states (pg. 52) "Top speed (Mmo) for the new G650 will be Mach .925, besting the Citation X by .005 Mach to claim the title as fastest business jet."

You cannot have supersonic flow through the engine, so no mach 1 for the X.

never said it goes supersonic through the engine. most turbine engines can actually handle low sonic speeds depending on their design. you are correct in that it does become a problem once the air can't slow down enough in the inlet. air above the sound barrier is said to be incompressible and not able to be used in a jet engine.
