I have read Delorean's Biography, by John Z. DeLorean with Ted Schwarz and the book is sitting right here next to me now. It explains all of the "dope" scandal ,etc. He was a genius. When he worked for GM...he came up with tons of ideas and working systems that they used, and were good ideas, and they worked. He was honest..and he got SET UP. yeah..your good ole guvment set him up, and shut him down. You think the big 3 would let him get successful??? yeah right.

How much ? ^^' My dream this car *_*

It was sold at a RM auction last year fro $100.000. I think a museum bought it.

HE APPEARS ON SCREEMN AT :35...WEIRD

No, that is not Biff. Tom Wilson was NOT at this show.

IS THAT BIFF IN THE RED POLO SHIRT???

Does anyone know, approximately, how many 'DMC 12- 1979 Protoypes' went into production, and/or how many still exist today in prestine condition?

I think the 'DMC-12' protoype was released somewhere around 1979, 2-years prior to release of the final redesigned model. Now, beside the gull-wing door windows, and the rear tail lights what else looks different b'tween this model and the final 1981 design.

Pretty much everything. There are only broad similarities between Prototype 1 (seen in the video) and the production DMC-12. The styling, powertrain, interior design, and even the basic construction methods were totally redone.

In 1975 Lamborghini in Italy manufactured 12 DeLorean cars for early crash testing. The company operated under the name DMI: Delorean Automobili Italia. Of these cars 4 are known to survive today. Not much is known about them and they were made of ordinary steel not stainless steel.
