SSIS Expressions - Intro to Using Expressions in SSIS Pt. 1

Video Title : SSIS Expressions - Intro to Using Expressions in SSIS Pt. 1
Description : Expressions are new in SSIS (meaning that they were not in DTS) but they allow you to create extremely flexible packages. Expressions can be used to assign values to variables, help you determine whether to execute a task, and to assign properties. If you ever found yourself writing ActiveX code (VBScript) in DTS to determine which task to execute based on a variable's value, then you probably can forego the scripting all together in favor of expressions! They are very powerful in SSIS and you'll want to have a solid understanding of how to write them and how to use them. Author: Scott Whigham Versions: SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2005

Great video. One point, Scott mentions that there is no button to bring up the expression builder from the 'Expression' property of a variable. You should know that this is available if you install SQL Server 2005 SP1. cheers Jamie

Man; Gotta tell you I've been a DBA for longer than I care to admit, and have seen many videos for various features of whatever tool Microsoft has for SQL Server. This is without a doubt the best tutorial video I've ever seen!!! The host (whoever he is) has the most personality bar none! Just right down-to-earth and the nav around the product along with how the guy talks is ALL VERY EASY TO FOLLOW! I can't believe I'm just now seeing this. You rock bro!!!
