Wtf? Mini-dv is better for digital editing than Hard drive cameras. mini-dv got better quality but only have one hour per tape.

Also takes a while to transfer, a long while. For fast loading and such for family films, solid state (NOT HARD DRIVE) are fine. Only recently have hard drive(true hard drives, not flash memory) recorders been introduced, they're slightly expensive, but they do easily compare with dv cam. I use a solid state cam for quick projects for school and friends, and just purchased a slightly used HDR-SR12 for projects and it works great for all we're doing.

but u can get 4 tapes togethor for pretty cheap

im suprised on how IndyMogul let down minidv, it is great with editing, has great quality, and has great size, it is great! i think that IndyMogul should more likely recommend minidv.

i have one like that... except it's in HD

miniDV is the best for editing! No problem with tapes.

Mini DV forever !!! I really think it provides best quality.

I'm still anxious to see new generations of hard drive cameras. I own 2 JVC Everios and they are super handy. You basically pull the files off like it's a hard drive. Indoor picture isn't great, but with lighting it is just as good as any hi8.

I don't really think you'll be able to get a quality picture from these types of cameras. Right off the bat, they are compressed to be able to drag the files into your computer, then you edit, export, and compress some more. It's a compression orgy!

alan k?
