I abosolutly love this video. because of this video i used this exact speech (with a lil bit extra add) mostly tha same format as how you had it. And i tried it out in my school's speech contest and i won 1st place.

aretha in the background fits so perfectly in this video.

You are right, if you read his last writings and his last few speeches he was moving towards social and economic equality for all

Brilliant

I know one thang.......That Aretha Franklin.....my god my god...

can we as Americans change the name of Martin Luther King Holiday to "Civil Rights Day"? Why should one man get more credit than all U.S. Presidents.. why should one man and his work consume us every year? Remind us about all the Civil Rights advances..instead of glorification of one man

Go watch the "More Perfect Union" speech by Senator Obama, watch the entire 37 minutes. What we went through, mentally destroyed us as a people. That would take a serious comment by all in order for the true problem that is buried deep in the blacks in America to be dug out and we all have a real chance. Our names, language, folkways, norms, religion and God was taken away from us for 300 years, we were not allowed to know, to look up or to even have a family. You don't know the half of it.

I am an African and i agree with Kennith41. African Amerians are blessed but it breaks my heart to see that my brothers and sisters do not take advantage of the school system&the great opportuinities they have. I am African who happened to go to college in the states and i took advantage of the great opportunities in the states. I was hired by a great company despite my accent and my color until i started my own business at home.there is no excuse for poverty among African Americans.

I agree with you so much. If we all listened to King's speech on a daily basis, we would achieve so success and treat each other with dignity and respect.

You can say wat u want as you or your ancestors where the ones that sold the ancestors of the african americans into slavery and never really experienced slavery or segregation urself. The mental immpressions are still lasting and there are evidence or if going away but 300 years cannot be erased in 40 yrs. C DR.King suffered it in his time jus 40 yrs ago. Do u think that al the oppressors are dead or converted. I dont think so. Dont dog the African Americans. but help them as the overcome
