Catherine (Fanny Ardant) is an attractive woman with a great career and a seemingly solid marriage to Bernard (Gérard Depardieu), her husband of 25 years. Their lives seem to be going well until Catherine discovers that Bernard is having an affair. Realizing that she does not really know her husband or what he really wants, Catherine hires Marlene (Emmanuelle Béart), a beautiful prostitute, to act as "Nathalie," a woman who will seduce Bernard and extract answers to the questions that are obsessing her. Instead of the traditional man/woman relationship, what begins is a mesmerizing relationship between two women. Expecting to be in control of the situation, Catherine meets with Marlene on a regular basis. However, what she learns soon takes her into a world that not only startles her but begins to change her.

Fanny Ardant is certainly attractive and sexy in her own way, but she is not a beauty. She has a very wide mouth, a large head, long nose and pointed chin!
Emmanuelle Beart, despite the lip job is far more beautiful, even here. When she was in Manon des Sources or Un Coeur en Hiver (before her lip surgery), she was simply the most beautiful woman in the world IMHO, and certainly in a different league to Madame Ardant!
I have to say that - Funny is hotter one :) And much more beautiful. Emmanuel has that "simple" kind of beauty. For me, she's just ordinary, I could evan say: commonplace. And Fanny is much more interesting, has that "something" in her. She's got a lot of class, grace, chic. She has style. Her face and body (both are beutiful, without doubts; THESE eyes! And mouth!) are behind that. And that's what matters.
