Test Flight 1 (aka 'First Flight') at Bruntingthorpe, filmed by the wife of co-pilot Squadron Leader David Thomas. In command was Squadron Leader Al McDicken, with AEO Squadron Leader Barry Masefield in the rear.
This 30 minute flight was little more than a 'shake-down', being the first time in nearly 15 years that XH558 left the ground! Al McDicken's 'featherbed' landing was the first time he'd landed a Vulcan in 25 years!
Avro Vulcan XH558 is a national heritage asset - she belongs to everyone in the UK. Please help to keep YOUR aeroplane flying for years to come!
