The last decent car put out by Crewe was the Mk VI Bentley which almost fell to pieces in Australia when so many of them were bought by the sheep farmers during the wool boom. The Factory refused to even countenance claims of poor design and simply forged on patching as they went.

Let's not knock the efforts of VW and BMW. If it was not for them there would be no more Rolls-Royces or Bentleys. The long term employee claiming heritage is typical of the RR ethos for the past 50 years. Rely on bullshit based on the achievements of the people who designed and built these cars in the first half of the last century.

Are there aftermarket disappearing hood ornament kits? The Phantom has the hood ornament that slides down into the grille when you turn off the car. That seems like it'd be a great feature to retrofit to older Rolls-Royces, too..
