Description :	I've finished a hurried tour of the National Palace Museum and, I must say, it is an impressive intellectual and cultural achievement; I look forward to my return to Taiwan when I can assiduously examine this museum's exhibitions of Chinese artifacts; there is much to see. And indeed it is obvious that an educated, erudite group assembled and documented these collections as their descriptions are lucid, eloquent and full of those polysyllabic, magic words that learned scholars alone would understand. The museum surely posits an egregious Taiwanese, one-China narrative: awkwardly absent in the museum's fastidious exhibitions is any acknowledgment of the civil war, the event owing to which the nationalist government was able to transfer such prodigious quantities of Chinese treasures to Taiwan; the narrative beguiles, leading readers to believe as though modern Taiwan were the obvious culmination of 5,000 years of continuous culture! The museum does little to discredit this notion. Nonetheless, regardless of its inevitable political tone, the museum is a Chinese gem, one of the greatest museums in the world in my opinion; and verily a must visit for tourists in Taiwan.
