It seems that Ellison would agree with Dr. Johnson's dictum that anyone who would write for other than monetary gain is a Blockhead. Outside "The Business", there needs to be a middle ground between not being robbed, and not doing something for love or some reason other than gain. This is, however, outside Mr. Ellison's problem. He's in Hollywood, and it's Hell for writers. It reminds me of the cartoon "Twice Upon A Time", when Director Botch says of Scuzzbopper, "Him? He's Nobody...a WRITER..."
