B-1's are ALOT bigger than they look...

And while Boeing has bought Rockwell, Boeing didn't build the B-1B. So it's still known as the ROCKWELL B-1B Lancer.
Same deal with the North American P-51D Mustang. They were bought out, but nobody refers to the P-51 as the Boeing P-51. It wouldn't make sense, because Boeing bought them years after the last P-51 was rolled out.
And as a side note, North American Aviation was part of the B-1 program too.

actually, any maintainer assigned to the b-1 just calls it a piece of shit.
|
Why, I've never heard of that? Is it a bitch to maintain?
|
It flew out of Long Beach after a fly over for a foot ball game.
|
actually the b-1 was made by rockwell but the contract was sold to boeing making it the BOEING b-1b. dont you feel stupid now...
|
The B-1 was made by Rockwell . . . Not Boeing.

I had the privilege of being "front row" to see one of these take off at Nellis AFB in 1997. I'll never forget it.

When these guys were at McConnell AFB the first Tues of the month was Afterburner night the squadron would tak off in full afterburner just after sunset. Go USA!
