Saber Fencing Torinto

Now honestly... this is pretty boring. Isn't foil more interesting to watch? I'm not sure which fencing discipline is the most fun to play but imo foil seems to be fun to watch.

I fence and sabre does look that way at top level. Various rule changes have favoured the attacker and resulted in this sort of thing. At club level Sabre is a lot of fun to do but makes a poor sport to watch!

basically, yeah... imagine fencing/ dueling in the olden days, the point is, if you can land a single damaging blow (which is now determined in sport fencing as the target are), it ought to be enough to cripple or kill your opponent so that he can't fight back... fencing teaches you to make those kinds of blow, so yeah, that;s the exaggerated answer to whether or not fencing is about who can stab the other guy first...

the swords are supposed to be flimsy if the were stiff they would hurt

Well if you put it that way, you want me to answer you :"No, sabre is not easy...bla bla" If we compare the two weapons with eachother, I'll be glad to tell you that epee is easier, as I also mentionen earlier. But in general, sabre isn't that hard to understand. Start with the basic rules of attack and defence and there you go. Because right now, what you're saying is that, the average person, avg. IQ, won't understand sabre, and that's not the case!

It is not confusing to me but it IS confusing to the average person who does not understand the right of way rules. Whenever I show saber to my friends they ask endless questions which kind of puts them off. If they showed epee people would be like "Hey, I could do this" that would be teh hook that would get them into the game. Do you think that sabre is easy for the average person to understand?
