I really would have thought that as it's such a famous landmark that it would be a little better preserved!

Well, the neighborhood is not the most perfect, but it's improving bit by bit. If you had come to this neighborhood 10-15 years ago it would have been like a total ghetto.

It is so beautiful how things have changed since then. That plaque commemorating the movie.....so full of Hispanic and Hip Hop art now....(I cannot say graffiti because it is violating freedom of expression and the ACLU may sue me). You almost cannot read the sign. I love how things have changed. Back then, you could walk the street. I am surprised that these people taking the film did not get their camera stolen or got shot by a drive-by shooting. We are living in the best of times! Yea baby!

The Three Stooges later did a 2-reeler as three icemen who had to deliver a load of ice to a home located up a set of steps. Do you know if this same location was used for that Stooges short?

Hi
evancortez
Thanks for the video of The Music Box steps. The 1932 classic had won the very first Academy Award of best Live Action Short Subject of 1931-32. The steps were also used previously in their lost silent film,"Hats Off" (1927).

Sam Lufkin plays the cop in the film.

Did you visit any other L & H locations.

Just this one so far.

Hi, I live 10 miles from the steps. I visit 2 times a year--the steps are my Mecca, my Rome. The people who live there today are recent renters or owners. Some people here are immigrants (modest income) and some are "hip" type. It is a great place. David (Los Angeles)
