DDL has a very nonsensical way of speaking, but you can understand what he's trying to say.

He describes the experience and the mindset of so many successful entrepreneurs. I've heard the story again and again--people call Plainview evil (it's far more complex than that). It really mirrors the work and the mindset of Daniel Day-Lewis and his work.
