"Dialing For Dollars" was a T.V. program in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area during this time
- middle and late 1960's. I was in High School there at the time. This song made perfect sense.

This song was a parady Janis wrote on a napkin at a bar with one of her friends on a break from recording. She never meant for it to be released, it was her way of blowing off some steam. When she died during her last album recording session, they scrambled for tracks to release, and found this. So they released it posthumously. She was joking around and poking fun at the establishment and the ridiculous things people "pray" for. This was never meant to be a serious recording.
