Is this a good movie?
I saw it at big lots yesterday for 3$. but i decided to buy mozart and the whale and foxfire instead.
So would you recommend this movie?
|
The dialogs are very strong and well written, and the movie has an amazing realistic aura throughout it. I highly recommend it.

Yeah man. I got it at best buy 2 days ago. Way worth it.
The other guy went into greater detail, but

I believe that the fight scene of the squid against the whale represents his parents and their problems and quarrels which eminently lead to the divorce. For years he didn't want to accept that both of them caused the conflict, he always took his father's side. At the end he perceives both as causers and victims of their divorce and then he is able to see the big picture without taking sides or judging.

That was a really good movie but does any one think the older brother looks like Thurston moore of the sonic youth?
|
The squid and the whale display was something that the older brother always had a hard time looking at when he would visit the museum - it frightened him. I would say that it represents his struggle with facing the fact that his parents are going to divorce.

there's a display of a squid and a whale fighting at the museum of natural history which was mentioned and visited in the movie. that's where the title comes from.
