Before ideological differences between the People's Republic of China and the U.S.S.R. led to the formation of two competing strands of Marxism (what became known as Polycentrism), Mao Zedong copied the Soviet model in the early days of the People's Republic and was strongly allied. Here, Mao visited Khruschev around 1957 when relations started to cool, shortly before he criticised Khruschev's "phony communism" and made the decisive break. Maoism later became an influential ideology amongst the third world and is still heavily admired to this day by revolutionaries in Nepal, India, Peru, the Philippines and Thailand, to name but a few.
In the film you can nonetheless see the enormous parades the Chinese layed on for Nikita Khruschev and the Soviet emissaries.

Lohengrin 3rd act ouverture
When Khruschev began to betray and critize Stalin, Mao took Khruschev as a revistist.
Mao highly respected Stalin but did not quite agree with Stalin. Mao thought Stalin's model made a new class over the working class.
Yes, I know. Mao was firm, but was for going among the people, and gathering ideas from them. Stalin did not trust the people at all, and did not even trust himself. I like both men, but Mao is better. The only thing I like about Khruschev is that he created a minimum wage in the USSR;-)
Khruschev was a criminal to the Chinese. And his successor was the same. That is the reason why the Soviet Union deemed to collapse. Mao was a great strategist to use the USA to defeat the Soviet Union that had been a socialist-imperialist.
All leaders after Comrade Stalin were overall bad, and helped lead to the fall of the Soviet Union. It is very sad.
They didn't kill enough people for ya?
the soviet union became social imperialist, but why ally with the big US imperialist? What is wrong with these so called communists leaders that they can't work out their differences and go to war when communism is supposed to be internationalists. You can't defeat the rich powerful capitalists when you're fighting amongst yourselves. Sino Soviet split was the biggest disaster in modern history.
