The Voice: Whitney Houston (And I'm telling you)

PLEASE! Jennifer Holiday OWNS THE SONG PERIOD! And I'm a Whitney fan that would kill for her! LOL But that is Jennifer Holiday's Signature song and she sings it like no other, although JHud and Whitney are very respectable covering it!

I wouldn't call it shot! And as a singer you know that you instrument is part of your body it's not something you can play and put in a case. While I agree with most of your points, the fact that she knows how to user her instrument and work a room is what makes her great!I would pay to see her sing with 1 lung and horse than to see Mariah Carey ANY DAY! Now, I'm a singer as well and if I had half the stage presence she had I would be on stage and not responding to you!!

Yeah...when you're trained, you can hear all these things...it's amazing. I can hear a singer singing, and tell whether they're about to drop a note, scratch, cut it off, etc., before it even happens most of the time. So many times, I've had a SHOT voice, got on stage, changed the flow, and people kiss my feet and tell me about how "flawless" it was. I'm thinking to myself that, although I did not squeak/scratch/whatever, it was horribly flawed! LOL Just something you hear as a singer.

You are too wrong! I do agree that JHud is not as good at J-Holliday, but, you have it backwards. First, JHud has amazing control of her power, and sings this song more smooth & powerful...a controlled belt. J-Holliday is the one who screams! J-Holliday is a natural screamer, which is what folks like more about her over JHud in this song. I agree about who's better, but, don't be a hater...at least say it right!

Can't be; if you're a trained singer, you should also have an ear. Whitney's voice is flat/hoarse, her upper register is gone & even fades out as she taps into it, and listen very closely to how she either chickens out and drops the tough parts, sings around it, or, takes the high note deep. This is not just her arrangement; you can clearly that the clarity in her voice is totally gone in this performance; she relied on her technique. Whitney has a beautiful voice; we only heard control here.

Trust me, you don't know;I am a singer. There are things singers can hear in the voice, etc. that most non-singers just won't notice or hear. From the start, I could hear that her voice was not in good condition; her range and clarity were gone. Her power, control, and SKILL got her through those songs...she knew how to use her voice, but, it wasn't working for her. She took the note down, took more breaths, took ends of the verse down (instead of holding), etc. Trust me, I'm right; no hate.

I hope when you say Jeniffer who, you mean Hudson, cause even though Whitney can sing the song, it's doesn't compare to Holliday...lol
