This movie reminded me so much of Lost in Translation. It was actually similar to that movie in a lot of ways. I just got done watching this movie about an hour ago, and I had to say it was brilliant.

Great scene. Notice how it starts off almost just like their 2nd conversation at the counter; except here, he didn't know how to respond to her reference to the TY note whereas she didn't know how to respond to his reference to the package. She's become the confident one and he is now unsure of himself.

great movie! watch the movie first then read the book. all of those hidden messages in the movie that we couldn;t make out is further explained in the book.the book is so good, very descriptive.ray was to immature and to deattached from intimacy that he couldn't see how fragile, innocent and pure mirabelle was.thus hurting her more.RAY WAS IN THERAPY...HELLO!! he thought as long as he could give her a piece of him.."PIECE" That it was suffecient for her....not knowing men are different than woman.

Hi Shinediaz26, Thank you for your comment. I also read the book before I saw it. I wish they could have included some things that were in the book in the movie somehow such as more about Mirabelle's family. If we knew a little more about them, it would have explained more about her character, plus the scene at the gala where she talks about lying. The way it was presented in the book was awesome. In the movie she just sits there. The movie is not without its flaws.

this book and movie makes me cry everytime i see it.possibly because mirabelle was so emotional and alert at expressing it.the movie left out alot of power points...it left me hanging by a thread....but boy i was so glad when i heard he had a book and i purchased it at barnes and noble for $5.00.thanks for the clip.

You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)

"lower intesity" means she is doing ok, minus the pain from the breakup, and the depression she was battling.this is explained more in the book.she is still healing she just doesn't have any stumbling blocks in her way.

i dunno i liked mirabelle with jeremy more. at least he didnt cheat one her like she cheated on him

Mirabelle didn't "cheat" on Jeremy. She just went on two dates with him, then she met Steve Martin after the second date. It wasn't until after her second date with Martin, THEN she called Jeremy to tell she was seeing someone else. I would hardly call that "cheating". Some people like Ray, some people like Jeremy. To each their own. I have even read some things on the internet that say she shouldn't have gone with either one.

I accidentally removed the comment by lifesahandbag - sorry! Here's your original comment: I know this is going to sound weird, but I LOVE the way Claire Danes looks when she's either crying or juuust about to cry. Her eyes are just so emotional! My response: It doesn't sound weird at all. I agree. Danes put a lot of emotion and feeling into her role as Mirabelle. I wish she was nominated for a Golden Globe or Oscar that year!
