a 46 can float, the reason you have foward motion is not because it cant float, its keep the mist from the rotor downdraft moving backwards, because it creates an illusion of a constant move downward, foward motion reduces that

a 46 can float... I saw one do it once, albiet by way of power loss! floated nonetheless...

Good call on all points Lance. There is NO room to stand beside a zodiak in a CH-46. Also, I notice a big difference in the appearance where the 46's engine bay doors should be. One last thing, this aircraft is capable of water taxi, not just hovering with the ramp submerged. In fact you are much more likely to take on too much water if you dont have some fwd speed.

Navy and Marine Corps use ch46 sea knights not chinooks the body is too narrow to be a 47not a chinook nice try. anyone with a 46 background could tell you that.

I have a 46 background. If that's a 46 they removed the kcik panels on the tail end right before the ramp. They changed the hatch. The sound proofing is installed, and the engines are making a different sound. So either it's a older video, HMX or it's not a 46. I will say it's a good possibility it's a CH-53E btw the boats like that, DO NOT fit in a 46 very easily and I guaruntee you that they couldn't drive up fully inflated. WHen we soft ducked they had half inflated boats. See my videos.

i think it is a chinook because when i was watching top ten helicopters a clip of this video was shown for it.

nope..its a Sea Knight

btw was it hovering or can it really float?

its hovering...but it submerges the ramp in the water..a very difficult, risky and skillful move.

this is a chinook, a phrog is not that wide and has different ramp cargo rails,
