MAZDA FAMILIA 新方向ファミリア

Not only did Mazda have the various bodyshapes for the Familia - there was also the Ford Laser twin - the 3door Lynx and 4 door sedan were front and rear facelifts of the equivalent Familias - while the 5 door Laser was a bodystyle different again from the Lantis being similar to the regular 4door, but with hatchback rear styling!

i'm from Australia, i would have e love to Have seen the the last 3 door Mazda Familia that they produced, on our roads. Also, did you know you they still build the last Mazda familia in Colombia and Taiwan......oooh and in china a clone version of the Familia....made by Haima....Called the Haima Family II.

This was when Mazda were going through an 'interesting' phase - producing styles of the one car that looked completely different (the Familia range alone had TWO sedans, 3 and 5 door hatchbacks and a wagon (actually a rebadged Nissan) which all had their own look... ...It was even more convoluted overseas however - In New Zealand, Mazda were building THREE generations of 323 (85-89 shape wagon, budget price 89-94 shape sedan/3dr and 94 shape sedan and Lantis hatchback!)
