I'm from the southeastern US, married to an aussie but we live here in the US right now. The first time I flew into Sydney in 2002, (stayed in Brisbane, Queensland though) the ethnicity of people there were so different from where I'm from. Not sure what state you're from, but did you notice a big difference in the ethnic background in Aus. compared to the people here? It was shocking to me at first at how different it is there but by far so very nice...sure you enjoyed yourself.
