That crazy guy's head that came out of the jam jar was one of the top comic's of this time period. I believe his name is Ed Win. He did a cameo on The Twlight Zone as the old man with a grand father clock that had to be kept running or he would die. Its a very old story line. He was also the voice for a number of cartoon character's. Great talent.

Ed Winn was also the voice actor for Mad Hatter in Disney's Alice in Wonderland (:

the scene where we pan to betty's "how do you do?" song was a take on the book cover of alice in wonderland which features all the characters of the book.
