i always found it strange that talat was on cd/cassette whereas in the film it was Mahendra Kapoor, Mahendra sings it so much better

The singers are Mahendra Kapoor and Rafi.

Talat did a superb job on the original number.

Originally the song was by Mohd.Rafi & Mahendra.HMV wanted songs by different combination of singers and this song was recorded in Mohd.Rafi & Talat.Later singers except Mohd.Rafi refused HMV's request saying their songs will lose audiences.Mohd.Rafi was definitely triumphant.Hats off to him.

I have not heard of Mahindra. I was under the impression that it was Talat Mahmood.

Both Talat and Mahendra have sang this, originally Talat but Manoj didn't think Talat's voice would suit him so asked for Mahendra, so on LP it's talat and film its Mahendra. :)

Superb just superb...Rafi untouchable.
