Davidandgoliath's new spot for the Kia Sorento entitled "Frames", showcases the added power and off road capability of the 2008 model in a very surprising way.
The commercial features Kia Sorento drivers heading out of town starting their various journeys. Surprisingly the Sorentos are all towing large wooden frames on trailers. Like the recent Kia "Pins" spot, it uses a metaphorical prop to help tell the story and intrigue viewers at the same time.
The idea is inspired by those picture perfect moments that just seem to happen on adventures. Magical sunsets, bizarre rock formations, animals, reflections etc. These are the kind of moments that end up framed on our walls or safely stored in our memory banks. In the commercial we see the Kia drivers using the giant frames to compose beautiful images. The spot is meant to inspire people to get out and see the world, and showcases the Sorento as the perfect vehicle to do it in.
Colin Jeffery, dng's executive creative director stated, " Something interesting happens when you mix epic cinematography with an oversized metaphor. It's certainly one way to create work that is fun, energizing, memorable and connects with people on an emotional level." Jeffery continued, "We had a lot of fun creating this spot, and now have an office full of 18ft frames."
