The 'Back To The Future' DeLorean used in the Twin Pines Mall sequence of BTTF was vin 5261 and both cars were built within an hour of each other. This little movie shows the upgraded ICE, remote central locking, alarm/immobiliser and remote start. The exhaust is unique utilising 21" headers. The gullwing doors, stainless steel construction, low slung profile and movie success have made these cars truly timeless. See www.delorean-hire.co.uk/html/chris_hawes__car.html for more of this car.

The way John Delorean wanted to spec his cars...was with a more powerful European engine.
But the US goverment told him he could not...so the smaller engine drastically reduced the power of the car beyond what it was originally supposed to be.
DMC of Texas now offers the more power performance upgrade. That brings the cars max to from 100.2 mph..to 140.2 mph
Is that really what the original sounds like? I have heard that the performance is disappointing, so I wonder if this car was modified. The engine does not sound bad
No, see the description. Stock DMC's are quiet, 130BHP & 060mph of 10-10.5 secs & max at 120mph. Mine has a few subtle engine mods & exhaust upgrade. Now reaches 135mph (& spare capacity) & 060mph 8.8 seconds. BHP now 170bhp. Economy is same between 22-30mpg. A 3L biturbo PRV used in the A610 that Clarkson wrecked will make my DMC the fastest PRV DMC (later version of the same engine from the DMC). 300BHP & 060 approx 5 seconds
0-60 in 5 is fast! Although 8.8 is respectable, certainly better than an average. A BMW 325i (box shape) claims to get 0-60 in around 9.1 I believe. Will that 3L biturbo fit easily? Is that an easily available engine would you say?
Thanks for your reply. Cool video man!
Cheers
It has the same sound of an VW bug! Great car!

All sound effects from BTTF were dubbed in. The motors were not swapped out in BTTF.
