Aldrich Ames was bad because more people died, but more crucial and sensitive information was given to the Russians by Hanssen AND it went on for 20 years!

It wasn't Rick Ames his name was Aldrich Ames and he worked for the CIA not the FBI.

Chris Cooper...what an underrated actor -- I'm glad that he's finally taking on a lead role (finally! took long enough, lol).
I agree 100%! Chris is without a doubt one of the best actor's in films today. He is smart by staying out of mainstream Hollywood.

but FYI, one of the worst spies in history, even worse than Hanssen was Rick Ames. He is responsible for betraying 10 US sources. All were executed in Russia.
He did it for many reasons. The psychologists who work with him say that he is a fascinating case study because of the double life he led. The movie left a lot of this out, but his father was probably the biggest reason. He always made Hanssen feel like a failure, and he was a horribly mean parent (sexual humiliation, etc). If you read Spy by David Wise you'll get a better idea of the damage this guy did and learn more about who he is.

amazing movie. 5 stars all the way
That was a great movie but it still left me with a lot of questions such as why did he do it? and how many people died because of him?
If you look on wikipedia it will give you some information.
3 agents were executed in the back of the head because of him. He also gave the Russians MONOPOLY, or the code name for the multi-million dollar easedropping tunnel we were building under their embassy.
