Unfortunately, Ukraine has NOT got up-to-date aircraft, made in the 21st century and does not intend to buy them. It is all from the 1970-80 s . A blast from the past.
i like the way this vid was made. though im not much of SU-25 fun but the SU-27s look fun to fly with.
@Spetsnazovets well, for all military technology fanatics.. this is our site to boosts our ideas and imaginations. i dont mind being slap on the face, as long as we talk about weapons. LOL
@Spetsnazovets ya, i agree 100%
Also Russians had RAMs for over 15 years. Tried and tested on older airframes. As for USA in todays wars - Thats a discussion that will take so much space that comments here are too short to even scratch the surface lol
Their SHAPING was claimed to be low-observable. Damn right its expensive. For comparison F-22 is a 310 million dollar plane. Materials for FSW are VERY expensive for reasons known. I dare say that structurally PAK-FA is a deep modernization of Flanker family although much optimized and reshaped for LO.
@Spetsnazovets i thought so too, but what really puzzles me is why georgia pushed for war they know they cannot win. and i do believe US has great role in that war. im even thinking russia and US need a real war scenario to see both military technology and equipments capability. thats what US do right? thats why theyre in iraq and afghanistan, to boost military funding.
@Spetsnazovets how can you do experimentations without its proper equipments? no, i dont believe they remove them. how would you experiment on stealth if its not in your plane? same goes with Mig 1.44s so called stealth characteristics? in 2007 medvedev announced on manufacturing SU-47 for their airforce, but later that same year scrapped the plan saying its too expensive.
So it was expecting west to protect while it was committing genocide? Wasn't gonna happen. Saddam had tanks and rounds that were obsolete for 10 years at least comparing to Allies. All its comms that french designed were sold to USA and destroyed within first hours and also jammed. Combined with assault from several sides and by a vastly superior multinational militaries - Wasn't too hard.
@Spetsnazovets philippines before WW2 were dependent on US protection. the nation itself isnt ready for war. when US pulled out of the phil pinoys were left to fight its own war in guerilla style. georgia is a very small country, with only around 5 million population... georgia was expecting the west to intervene i think but never did... georgian war from the start is totally one side, but to compare to saddams 500,000 standing army and thousand tanks... i see big difference.
Su-47 was INTENDED to be stealth but later when it was re-classified into an experimental machine, it no longer was required. As for IR its impossible to hide most of IR signature since the exhaust gases are at least 500 degrees C. The only planes that hide their turbines from direct observation are F-22, F-117, YF-23, B-2. and while it does reduce IR signature, its negligible. As for 400 UAVs I was told by a marine who was in Melbourne on leave
Really? Last time I read WW2 history Phils were overrun within 3 weeks and Philo army attacks were mostly guerilla warfare from then on and then a lot of Japanese forces were moved to other places. And News you read are from western sourses mostly. Coverage of that war in the west was SO blatantly inaccurate I don't even want to start on it. Even without SEAD Russians destroyed or captured over 100 units of armor/transport and held total air and maritime supremacy. Wanna continue?
@Spetsnazovets and i base my comments again on news and facts i read. if you have proof that only 400 UAVs is operating in iraq more than what US reports let me know where you got it. russians as well as US make reports, whether exagerated or not. for instance, russia say SU-47 is stealth, turned out only to have a reduced heat signature like of the F-18 superhornet.
@Spetsnazovets during WW2 when mac arthur landed no resistence were seen cos most of japs were either disabled or weakened by pinoy resistance. in korean war most allied forces pulled back from advancing enemies yet pinoy stood their ground and held the norths from advancing... one of our previous president Fidel Ramos was with those troops. any more comments on pinoys pal? going back to our topic... i criticize russian performance in georgia base on news i read.
If you read into history of many conflicts then you'll see a general trend of over exaggeration of numbers. Maybe combined with Afghan i'd agree on up to 400.
@Spetsnazovets we compare US and Russians here, but if you want to know if pinoys fight? hahaha! were not war freaks, but if ask to fight we do not back down. we fight till one of us is dead. come to the Philippines how hospitable we are, but when you stare someone in the eye as if you want a fight? a a stare will cost you your life. one example is pacquaios tribe, the WARAYs. they use bolo to charge you tho receiving bullets but will still cut you to pieces. you dont know that huh... LOL
@Spetsnazovets 40? hahaha, you gotta be kidding me. do you read military news at all? US is presently operating over 1000 UAVs in iraq alone according to navy league website.
Both A-10 and Su-25 are both armored and can take missile hits. The missiles in Georgia took out Su-25s engines. But the cabin and other systems were workable. There was just no power so pilot had to bail. I agreed with you on A-10s gun b4 Redeye and Hawk + Stinger are fire and forget. Not much training needed. even for Afghanis and CIA trained them well.
And Russia commanded its forces very well as you can see. You simply believe everything that USA tells everyone yet they were caught lying to the world too many times. As for high-tech equipment - Its made to be simple, useful and effective. There is a radar upgrade in pipeline as well as GLONASS. B4 you bag Russia - tell me how powerful is Philo military? Compared to Russia - not much to compare. How about fix your own military and then insult someone stronger.
When Russians went into Georgia it wasn't a planned operation like USA always does. It was a Burst-in-and-take-down mission at moments notice. There was no time. They scrambled the Tu-22 and Su-25 to slow the progress of Georgian armor. 1000s of UAVs? Are you serious? There isn't more then 40 of them tops in Iraq. And Russia HAS UAVs too. They just aren't wide-spread yet. Georgian drones were taken out within a day. Results matter in a war and Russians won in 3 days. Have something else to say?
@Spetsnazovets the gun on A-10 is a very effective tool against ground targets. thats what ive been saying. A-10 has stols for a dive, its not meant for dogfight. how effective is SU-25 on the ground? so what if SU-25 is faster or can be fueled with diesel. but if you keep losing planes almost everyday, then whats the point. most hand held SAMs fly mach 1.8 - 2.5 (NATO weapons) and flying at mach 1 those SAMs will still catch you. afghans dont have proper equipments against russia. come on.
@Spetsnazovets with russias inability to command proper ground infos and movements they have to use TU-22 for surveilance! thats one cheap way of saying they cant stand against the west in a real battle... US commands thousands of UAVs in iraq to monitor the ground... russia dont have such capacity. and in a real conflicts numbers and statistics dont matter when you are depth and blind. SU-25 according to a russian military analyst say dont have proper hi-tech equipments.
Russia only lost 8 planes overall. And thats because no SEAD missions were flown. 3 Su-25 were down. During 8 years of Afghan 23 were lost. Tu-22MR was the recon plane. As for cannon that what I was saying. It was designed around that gun from the outset
spetsnazovets... A-10s lazer tracking system helps them from friendly fire and tracking of armored vehicles. i dont get how you look at air strikes on the ground. you need to survey the ground locate targets and destroy. russia lost an TU-22 due to lack of surveilance and UAVs, thats why they lost much SU-25 on that war. A-10 is today upgraded with GPS and other intels from EWACS for better ground infos...
