When foreign armies are on your home soil then it is defensive war. I don't see foreign armies on American soil. It is not a defensive war. Pearl harbor was a defensive war. An invasion can be made to look like war for liberty, god, oil, or anything.

As a Marine (1974-1976) and a history buff, I can assure you that war truely sucks but you must remember that human nature being what it is it will forever be with us. No one wnats to fight but one must always be prepared less you are prepared to lose your liberty.

In war, both sides justify their cause. For that reason, you are probably right that war is forever. Ideally and simplisticly, soldiers of both sides should just all go on strike. Let the generals kill each other for a change. Less deaths at least. Again, Peace :)
