if your target was then placed out at 30 yards, would you know by the mil dots on your scope how many dots or lines you have to move up, or down! im new to using scopes and range finding. cheers, simon.

Hi yes the best thing to do is set up a few targets at say 5,10,15,20yrds etc and either use the hold over method, as you say count the mil dots or alter the elevation(top turret)there so many variables like power and calibre, 22s drop sooner than .177s and pellet weight makes a difference also. If you zero in at the most likely distance you will use then alter or count the mil dots accordingly to the distance. I will send you a link to the best site I have every found, it should help you.
