Kellie Pickler gave an exclusive gut-wrenching interview to the local ABC affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina which aired the same day Kellie tearfully sang "I Wonder" at the Country Music Awards in Nashville.
Upset, Kellie addresses Cynthia Malone's version of what happened years ago when she left Kellie to be raised by her grandparents in Albemarle, NC. She looks directly into the camera and talks to her estranged mom.
Cynthia is also interviewed in this segment.

OH man!! I can totally relate to Kellie.... my Mom was never apart of my life growing up... she took me away from my Dad and wewent to Virginia and slept on a basketball court for a couple nights.... and then when we cam back she lost all custody of me and I have lived with my dad ever since then. Every concert, parents activity, games, anything that a normal parent should be at... she was never there. We went 6 months without talking once. Our relationship is better, but it will never be normal
I just love how her mom says "I'm human, I make mistakes." There's a difference between being human to make a mistake and abandoning her daughter. A normal person does NOT abandon their children. For God sake. Kelli, all I can say is stay strong, you are NOT the victim!!
I agree, no normal parent would leave their young child with their grandparents.

Her mom left because she felt like her life was in jeopardy. She could have taken Kelli with her. I mean, the person who beat her could have killed Kelli in revenge. Did she or any of you never think about that? (Those defending her mom) No, because she only thought about herself. I do not blame Kelli for wanting nothing to do with her mom. She most likely only wants part of Kelli now because she's rich and famous. If she wasn't famous her mom would probably still want nothing to do with her.
